Soccer..
I must tell everyone how proud I am of my soccer teams. I coach both teams. The kids are doing great.
Jessie's team had to play short handed this past weekend. You are supposed to field 11 kids at a time. I only hand 10 players show up. We dominated the whole game. We had control of the ball the majority of the game. We were never able to score, but the kids busted their butt for me. The other team scored once with a fluke lob kick.
The other coach told me after the game that #57 "killed" his team. (He said it in a good way. He said she was awesome!) Guess who that is??? Jessie.. She absolutely played her heart out. She was running over kids, running through kids, and flat out over played them. She didn't play dirty she just didn't play like a wimpy girl. It was a great game!
Mason is not quiet the physical player yet. He's more the "I'll hang out and wait for the ball to pop out of the pile" kind of player. He has scored about 3 goals this season, so he's not doing to bad. He will get physical but prefers the defensive approach.
Okay enough of the mommy moment...

Egg hunt

Mason had a soccer game this morning. Mason scored one goal. I swear he spends more time on the ground than he does on his feet. The team has done very well this season. I',m very proud of them all!
After the game, we headed over to the commissary for an egg hunt. It was a small event, but Mason had a blast!
Underwater Easter Egg Hunt

Jessica and Matt had a blast this morning hunting for Easter eggs underwater. They won 2 underwater flashlights ($28 ea.) and a nice dive knife ($95). There were 75 dive teams, 2 per team.
It's amazing how small the military community is here. Our old karate teacher from 2001 is stationed here. We were stationed together in 29 Palms. He was diving with his son this morning.

Friends abroad

I hosted my first set of high school students. They were from outside Tokyo. Yuka and Chinatsu, both 17, had a good time hanging out with Jessie and Mason. First we stopped at the exchange on Kadena to get a birthday present for a party Jessie is going to tonight. We came back to the house to have lunch. The girls wanted to watch Moulin Rouge. Yuka helped me cook the alfredo and corn. She wanted to wash the dishes for me, too. I showed her the big dishwasher and she was in awe. They both said their homes are very small. I think the big appliances were fascinating. After the movie and lunch we headed out to run some errands. I had to have them back to their bus by 4:15pm. So, after lots of picture taking we headed back. Jessie and Mason really enjoyed their visit.
I get 3 14yr old boys on the18th and 4 on the 26th. The company gives us paperwork on the kids and tells us what they like. I think I'll take the next group to Burger King for a whopper. They all like American hamburgers.
Hopefully before the next group my Japanese will improve! Thank goodness for dictionaries!

Dive trip

Jessie and Matt did a short dive this afternoon. They went down to 39 feet for 55 minutes. There was a lot of sealife activity for them to enjoy. They said there were lots of sea snakes out. They swam up on a puffer fish party. Matt said there were about 20 little puffer fish swimming around. He said that one would puff up and then deflate then another would puff and deflate, almost like they were playing. They also saw a bunch of parrot fish, trumpet fish, and lots of other colorful fish.
Mason and I stayed up on the seawall and watched the waves. Mason played in the tide pools. He saw lots of brittle star fish, sea cucumbers, and sea urchins. He was puddle hopping to see what he could find in each puddle. He had a blast.
